Collages.net’s product development team discusses their comprehensive product line, how photographers can increase business, and techniques on photographer marketing. 

What happens when you ask a group of nine fun, creative, and innovative women to design a comprehensive product line for professional photographers?

They develop a beautiful, elegant, high-quality product collection that fits the product needs of every wedding and portrait studio. We used the highest quality materials, the hottest colors, and the most innovative designs to create five best-in-class product lines.

After launching five new product lines before the end of 2007, Deirdre, our director of product development, decided to hold a photo shoot to find the perfect team photo to accompany our 2008 product catalog mailing. One of our staff photographers Erik Matey, customer consultant and print specialist, photographed the session and our artistic, image-oriented team didn’t refrain from chiming in on poses, lighting, and locations.

“It was difficult getting nine people all in sync with each other,” Erik recalled, “Especially with all of the laughter - but we finished the session with many great shots and had a lot of fun in doing so.”

“In designing our albums, Collages.net’s product development team wanted to give your clients every reason possible to choose your albums, especially with all of the competition out there. Our leather covers are handmade, available in vivid and vivacious colors,
with plenty of customizable options. We have photographers who always order our orange albums for their studio samples. Few people actually buy orange leather albums, they say, but they feel that having this bright album in their studio captures their clients’ attention and shows the broad range of their offerings.”




“We designed our album line to include a lot of
flexibility in terms of options and in terms of product. As far as options we offer embossing, cameos, spine hubs, and plenty of convenient sizes. As far as product, we designed an album product so flexible that we have already expanded our line - putting a creative, contemporary twist on our albums to offer guest books. Guest books have the same personality as our albums – excellent lay-flat properties, a minimal page seam, handcrafted leather covers, and customizable options – but they display images on the left and parchment paper on the right for signing. They are already quite a hit – especially for seniors, weddings, graduations parties, Quinceanera, Sweet 16s, and showers.”

“Our press printed books have so much personality – we just love them! In designing our books, flexibility, customization, and quality were our main motives. These books give our photographers the ability to do anything they want – from customizing their pages to make a finished album to adding creative borders to make a contemporary proof book. “We chose almost 30 colors for our press printed books – with popular
trendy colors such as Montauk, a bold, upbeat blue, and Juicy, a daring shade of purple brilliance, as well as more traditionally popular colors such as Turquoise, Ivy, Onyx, and Cherry. This broad range of colors gives photographers the ability to add more personalization - to choose shades that match their bride’s colors or corresponds to their clients’ personality.”


“In making our product ordering systems, we wanted to provide you with an easy, efficient online shopping experience. On top of that, our product interfaces have aspects that are beneficial to each product.

Our gallery wraps ordering system includes a 3D preview of your wrap. Our high-end card system gives you the
ability to search through all of our cards – based on color, occasion, keyword, and more. Our album and books interfaces provide lots of images of our customized options – so in case you’d like to see the difference between moiré or art-grade paper, or if you’d like to see how the single page cover template looks – you can!”




Another one of the products we spent a lot of time designing is our sample card albums – for our high-end cards. We chose our most popular (and
favorite) 80 or so high-end cards, mounted them on pages, and put them into a black portfolio to create a sample card album for your studio. With our product and marketing expertise, our team enjoyed creating this studio sample product, and our photographers have found that this sample card album really helps them easily sell high-end cards to their clients.
