What do you do at Collages.net?
I am the development project manager, which means I oversee all IT projects from start to finish. From gathering specs on a project, to development, to the final release of a project, I manage all of the details.
How long have you been with Collages.net?
I have been with Collages.net for three and a half years.
What gets you excited about working at Collages.net?
The people! I work with an incredible team of people who really make it fun to come to work each day.
When you joined Collages.net did you start working in the development department?
No, I actually started out working in the customer service department. I learned a lot about the photography industry and more specifically, our photographers' studio workflow from this role. I then began working on SEO maintenance. When I started at Collages.net, we just released a new version of our site and I set up all of the SEO and to this day, still maintain all SEO projects.
So, you have a background in IT, correct?
Not at all! I actually received my BA in marketing. I always had an interest in IT and computer programming, but I didn’t actually get into the IT field until after college during an internship with Walt Disney in Orlando, FL.
What do you love most about your job?
Every day is something new! There is never any day that’s the same as the last. I love testing, managing the projects flowchart, and also juggling the projects on my plate. I’m not the type of person that could stick to a repetitive routine.
What is your favorite Collages.net product or service and why?
Site Builder is definitely my favorite service that Collages.net provides. The IT team put so much work into streamlining our professional photographers’ upload process by optimizing image uploads. We continually look for ways to assist photographers in becoming more efficient posting and selling images online.
What has been your favorite project at Collages.net?
Order tracking is something I loved working on because I knew it would make a big difference in our photographers’ user experience. Photographers can now quickly and easily look up the status of any order right in their Administrative Area, which saves them a phone call. I’m also looking forward to releasing our new ordering system that will allow photographers to order their
designs,
albums, and
high gloss finish books all in one place. It’s in the final stages of testing and I can’t wait for our photographers to start using it!
What is the most frequently asked question you get from customers?
Many photographers are looking for a quick and easy way to send proof orders through to collagesColor + ROES for printing. It’s easy to do in there, but we decided to make it even easier for photographers. We are currently in the process of developing a feature in Site Builder that will allow photographers to order proofs from the event site images they upload. It’s just another way our development team is striving to save photographers time.
What was the last book you read?
Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.
If you could travel to any place in the world, where would you go?
Definitely to Ireland! I’m actually planning my wedding there, which will be happening in two years.
Very exciting! So, here's the million dollar question - how will you pick your wedding photographer?
I have started to look at photographers. For me, the biggest thing in this exploratory phase is the quality of the photographer's blog. Studios who spend time to update their blog frequently with lots of images help me understand their style and personality.
